Hello from the Good People Tree Service Team! We hope 2026 is a fantastic year for everyone.
We want to offer our readers a homeowners’ checklist to help preliminarily determine if a tree may be prone to failure. We have put together a guide for home use which can be accessed here.
As the Spring Solstice approaches, we can’t help but comment on what a mild and windy winter we have been having. The windstorm in December wreaked havoc throughout the Front Range. Failing trees and blowovers caused quite a mess, we are still in the midst of helping homeowners deal with downed trees.
Tree Trivia
So many trees, so much to learn.
The quaking aspen, or Populus tremuloides: every aspen tree in a stand is often connected by the same root system. A single aspen tree typically lives 20-70 years, in ideal conditions up to 150 years, however a root system can be hundreds to even thousands of years old. If an individual tree trunk is killed by disease or fire, it creates a stress response in the root system causing buds to form and an increased growth rate. This allows aspen tree stands to recover quickly after a fire.
